I have a lot on my mind this afternoon. So I did what I do best when I have many thoughts, I cleaned. For some reason, I feel the need to run away from my thoughts, so I started cleaning. I started with the dishes, then moved onto the whole kitchen. After that, I picked up the living room. I then scrubbed the hall bathroom. I finished it all off with my bedroom. Now I have nothing to clean. So I decided to write this post. Now I'm going to have to go face all of those thoughts...

Concert Band

First off, I'd like to say I realize that is a marching band picture. I have no pictures of our concert band, saw this one on facebook and thought "eh, good enough". Tonight was our spring band concert, and it was finally awesome. We've spent the last four years rebuilding the band program out of nothing. The cursed band director position had never been held for more than two years at a time, until good old Mr. Sterk. He has made our band into something special. Just look at that picture, two trumpet players upside down. Isn't that great? I mean sure, we totally stole it from the Cavaliers drum corps, but our mascot is the Cavalier, so we just borrowed it from ourselves. Our concert was great, the applause was actually meaningful. It was also our awards night, and I took home outstanding freshman. Yay me. I'm also a "scholar musician" for being in the top five of my class. It was a fun night, and I look forward for my upcoming year in band. It's gonna be a good one!

Honey Bunches of Oats

I freaking love Honey Bunches of Oats. They are the food of the gods. I eat them all the time, and never get sick of them. If I could, I would eat them for every meal. No regrets. I just finished a bowl, so that's what inspired this particular post. They are just so stinkin' delicious. I can't think of a food I love more. Well, Jack's frozen pizzas are a close second. Nothing beats my honey bunches, though. No siree bob.

FFA Stress

So I'm in FFA. If you don't know what that is, let me give you an overview. FFA used to stand for Future Farmer's of America (Not anymore though!) and is the largest student organization in the United States. There are many levels to it, one being CDE (Career Development Event) contests. Well June 18-20 is the Indiana State Convention, when state CDEs are held. So, I chose to do the Agriscience fair (An all ag science fair) contest. Well, then I got put in charge of our Ag Issues Forum (Consists of a skit over an issue in agriculture) Team. Then, I was informed I was on the Marketing team (Creating and presenting a marketing plan for an ag business). Finally, my teacher asked me to take the farm management test, so that makes four contests in all. I am going to pull my hair out. I still have track practices for the next two weeks, so I can't work after school. I still have to keep up with homework, so I get very little done at night. There's also the issue of never being able to see the people on the teams with me, which makes creating a group project a little bit of a challenge. Now, I'm one of those people that works better under stress, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it. I just got to push through these next few weeks, and hope for the best. I mean, I really really really want to go to nationals again. I just have to work it out and do good work. What other choice do I have?

Wind Turbines

I live in the middle of nowhere, as you know. Well, the middle of nowhere means in a rural community located halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis on Interstate 65. A rural community that has recently become the largest wind farm in Indiana. Sure, there cool to look at. Frankly anything is better than flat farmland. They're are just parts that are annoying. Like, everyone on the interstate has to slow down and gawk. Not to mention all the semis driving around hauling over sized wind turbine blades. Then there are the companies that look at all of us "locals" as a bunch of toothless hicks. I mean sure, we have our fair share of hilljacks, but mostly there are good hardworking people. Take Enxco for example. They came in and gave a presentation of the "White County Wind Project" to my high school. It was ridiculous. They treated us all like 4th graders that couldn't grasp the simplest of topics. There is an advantage to all of it though. Our towns are making bank. From the farmers renting the land to the people getting payed simply because they're near our houses, everyone has a little extra cash these days.
